Arkansas State Scores Eight Runs in Sixth to Knock Out Troy

MOBILE, Ala. – Third-seeded Arkansas State scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and cruised to a 12-0 run-rule victory against sixth-seeded Troy on Friday in the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championsthip at Stanky Field in Mobile, Ala.

The Red Wolves (32-26) advance to face second-seeded UT Arlington on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT in a game that will be televised by the Sun Belt Network. With the loss Troy falls to 25-32 on the year.

A-State's Chandler Hawkins worked all seven innings allowing just three hits and no runs. He walked two and struckout one batter to improve to 5-5 on the season.

Troy's William Shell suffered the loss for the Trojans who had more errors (four) than hits (three) in the game.

Austin Baker and Dustin Jones led the Red Wolves with two runs batted in. Baker had two of A-State's eight hits on the evening.
