Sun Belt Conference Announces 2015-16 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Conference Schedules
NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced the 2015-16 men’s and women’s basketball schedule on Monday. The conference will utilize a 20-game conference schedule for each men’s and women’s basketball program for the second consecutive season.
Men’s and women’s basketball games will be played as doubleheaders for the second consecutive year to accommodate the 20-game schedule. A majority of the men’s and women’s basketball coaches, with approval by a majority of the 11 athletic directors in the Sun Belt Conference, voted to maintain the 20-game schedule for the upcoming season.
All games with the exception of one rivalry game have been scheduled for each school. The dates for UALR at Arkansas State, Georgia Southern at Georgia State, UL Lafayette at UL Monroe, South Alabama at Troy and Texas State at UT Arlington will be announced by each institution at a later date. Those games, which will be announced once each institution mutually agrees upon a date, are one of two meetings between each of the in-state rivals during the 2015-16 season. Appalachian State is the only institution which does not have the option to schedule one more rivalry game.
Tip times for conference games will also be announced by each institution at a later date.
The 2016 Sun Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships return to New Orleans and the Lakefront Arena. The tournaments will run from March 9-13, 2016 with the top eight teams from the men’s and women’s basketball sides qualifying for the tournament.
