UL Lafayette’s Elijah McGuire, UL Monroe’s Rashon Ceaser, and New Mexico State’s Teldrick Morgan all received preseason recognition today as they were named to the Paul Hornung Watch List.
The Paul Hornung Award, now in its sixth season, is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports.
McGuire enters the 2015 season as the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. In 2014, during his sophomore campaign, he rushed for a team-high 1,264 yards and 14 touchdowns, ranking fourth in school history for most yards in a season and tied for fourth in touchdowns. Among NCAA individual leaders he finished 29th nationally in rushing yards, 34th in rushing yards per game (97.2), 19th in all-purpose yards (1,818), tied for 21st in rushing touchdowns and third in yards per carry (7.61) .
Ceaser earned First Team All-Sun Belt Honors in 2014 after finishing the season with 77 receptions and team-leading 872 receiving yards. He also hauled in three touchdown passes and logged 134 return yards (114 punt return yards, 20 kickoff return yards)
Morgan played and started in 11 games last season for the Aggies - scoring seven touchdowns along the way. He accumulated 1,361 all-purpose yards on the season, which included a career-high 220 all-purpose yards against Georgia Southern. He averaged 12.0 yards per catch and 123.7 all-purpose yards per game and had 75 total receptions for 903 yards.
