Complete Release
NEW ORLEANS – Arkansas State's due of Jaylen Bacon and Keturah Smith have been named this week's Men's and Women's Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track Student-Athletes of the Week while the South Alabama duo of Sean Collins and Kaitlyn Beans have been named the Men's and Women's Indoor Field Student-Athletes of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Bacon's honor is his second in consecutive weeks as the sophomore claimed last week's honor as well. Smith's honor gives the Red Wolves six honorees through the first two weeks of the season.

Collins' honor is the first honor of the freshman's career.

Bacon claimed the 60-meter title in Kentucky winning the event with a near school-record time of 6.72 seconds. His time ranks him 22nd overall in the NCAA this season.

Smith, a sophomore, posted a personal-best time in the 400-meters, finishing sixth overall in Kentucky. She clocked a time of 56.02 seconds which ranks as the fourth-fastest in program history and currently ranks as the top time in the Sun Belt.

Collins broke the school record in the pole vault at the Commodore Invitational, posting a mark of 5.65m (17'6.5") in his collegiate debut. His clearance was tied for the seventh-best mark in the nation this season while breaking the previous USA record set in 2006.

Beans continued her storied career as a Jaguar recording the 12th-best triple jump in the country and longest in the Sun Belt as she lept 12.66m (41'6.5") to finish second at Vanderbilt. It was the second-longest jump of her career, falling just short of her own school record.

The indoor season continues this weekend with several meets scheduled around the country. A-State will stay home and host the ASU Invitational at the Convocation Center while the Jaguars will head to Birmingham this weekend for the UNO Privateer Invite after sending a small contingent of athletes to Samford midweek.
