Little Rock's Scott Earns Third Student-Athlete of the Week Honor; Jaguars Remain Undefeated in League Play
NEW ORLEANS - The South Alabama Jaguars swept their third consecutive Sun Belt series over the weekend to pushtheir record to 9-0 in the early goings of league play. The series sweep over Texas State was USA's fourth series sweep this season as they swept Evansville to open the season.

USA leads conference play by three games over Georgia Southern, UL Lafayette and Texas State. The Jags picked up a win in game one, 6-4, and followed that up with a 7-3 win in game two. USA picked up the sweep in extra innings, defeating the Bobcats, 3-2, on Saturday in 11 innings.

USA will look to continue the streak as they host UL Monroe in a three-game set this coming weekend. Midweek the Jaguars will take on Nicholls State in a game to be played at MGM Park in Biloxi, Miss.

The Ragin' Cajuns also swept their weekend series with Georgia State led by solid pitching and defensive performances in the three-game set. It was the Cajuns' fourth series win and third sweep on the season.

The Cajuns will now head out on the road for a four-game road trip beginning midweek with a contest against Nicholls State on Tuesday before heading to Jonesboro to take on Arkansas State.

UT Arlington swept its three-game set with Incarnate Word, outscoring the Cardinals 32-5 over the weekend. UTA won Saturday's finale 13-0 in a seven-inning run-rule affair.

Little Rock swept Troy over the weekend giving the LR Trojans six straight wins and five consecutive in Sun Belt play. After starting the season 0-4 in league play the Trojans have won back-to-back series over UL Lafayette (two-out-of-three) and Troy.

Ryan Scott has been instrumental in those six wins as he was once again named the Community Coffee Student-Athlete of the Week. Scott, who leads the NCAA in batting average (.489), went 7-for-15 with seven RBIs, five runs, four walks, a double, a stolen base, a .533 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage last week in four games played. Scott also extended his reached base streak to 19 games.

His efforts gave him his third Sun Belt honor this season becoming the first student-athlete of the week to win three honors in a single season since Troy's Danny Collins in 2013. Appalachian State's Taylor Thurber won three pitching accolades in 2015.

ULM's Brayden Bouchey was the recipient of the Community Coffee Pitcher of the Week honor after shining on the mound in his appearance against Appalachian State. He pitched seven innings against the Mountaineers, striking out 12 and allowing just one earned run and one hit in his 108-pitch performance.

Bouchey retired the first seven batters he faced and then retired the final nine batters he faced.
