Texas State Shoots 297 in Second Round to Take Team Lead in Women's Golf Championship

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. - The Texas State women’s golf team is in sole possession of first place by 12 strokes at the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship at The Raven Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Fla. Led by Raksha Phadke’s 1-under-par 70 in round two, the Bobcats carded a tournament-low round of 297 in round two to take over the lead from Troy. The Trojans, leaders after round one, slipped into second place with a two-round total of 610.

The Bobcats were one stroke back of Troy after the first round, but edged the Trojans by 13 strokes in round two to go into the final round with the 12-stroke lead. With a first round score of 74 and two round total of 3-over-par, Phadke is in first place individually at the tournament. Fellow teammate Maty Monzingo is in third after backing her first round of 74 with a 73 in round two. Lora Assad finished day two with a 77 to sit in a tie for fifth place overall. She carded a 74 in round one. Anne-Charlotte Mora improved in round two by four strokes by turning in a 77.

The Bobcats were joined by Georgia Southern as the only two teams on Monday to turn in team scores under 300. The Eagles improved by 22 strokes from round one with a 298 today to move into a tie for fourth-place with Georgia State.

Troy's Bianca Lohbauer is joined in the top 10 by a pair of teammates as Fátima Fernández Cano and Becca Horner are both tied for ninth place, while Gabi Oubre’ is tied for 18th place and Lindsey Harrison is tied for 27th. Lohbauer carded a six-over 78 in the second round. Cano led the Trojans on Monday with a 3-over 74 after rebounding from a shaky start. She made the turn at 3-over, but responded with a pair of birdies around two bogeys on the back side to finish with a 74 on the par-71 course.

Georgia Southern's Yeji Shin carded a 72 to lead the Eagles in round two. Shin's score was tied for the third-lowest for an individual in the tournament, and it was her lowest round this season. The Eagles' team total was also the second-lowest of the tournament.

Round one individual leader, Jemima Gregson, carded a 78 in round two and is currently tied with Troy's Lohbauer and Arkansas State's Aracelly Jimenez Rios. The Panthers fired a team total of 307 in round two and were paced by Solene Le Coz's one-over 72.

Troy, Texas State and Little Rock will be paired together again for Tuesday's final round, which is scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m. CT. Round two begins at 7:30 a.m. CT with groups again going off split tees at Nos. 1 and 10.
