UL Lafayette's Trosclair, Troy's Brown Earn Final Athlete of the Week Awards; Championship Schedule Set
NEW ORLEANS - UL Lafayette's Stefan Trosclair and Troy's Lucas Brown picked up the final Sun Belt Community Coffee Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week awards, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Trosclair was instrumental in the Ragin' Cajuns' four wins last week, including a three-game sweep of UL Monroe, which led the Ragin' Cajuns to a share of the league's regular season crown.
Trosclair hit .444 (8-for-18) on the week with three doubles, two triples a home run and eight RBI while slugging 1.000 with a .474 on base percentage. Trosclair posted multiple hits and RBI in three of the four games on the week. With a share of the conference championship on the line in game two of the ULM series, Trosclair came up with the walk-off winning RBI double in the 11th to lift the Cajuns to a 6-5 victory.
Trosclair then drove in three runs in the series finale. He tied a school record with two triples in game two of the series. Trosclair raised his average from .257 to a season-best .273 after the four-game week.
The Ragin' Cajuns earned the top overall seed in this week's conference championship as they look to win their third consecutive tournament title. They open up play in the championship on Wednesday, May 25 in the final game of day one at 7:30 p.m. CT against eighth-seeded Arkansas State.
Troy's Brown pitched eight solid innings against No. 23 South Alabama last week as the Trojans went on to claim the season series with the Jaguars, 2-1. He gave up four hits, no earned runs and struckout eight batters, one off his career high. His efforts earned him the Community Coffee Pitcher of the Week.
Brown threw 125 pitches, 77 for strikes as the senior right-hander pitched five perfect innings, striking out the side in one frame.
Brown and the Trojans earned the fourth seed in this week's tournament and will take on tournament host, Texas State, on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. CT.
The 2016 Sun Belt COnference Baseball Championship takes place Wednesday, May 25 and continues through Sunday's championship game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT. The championship, along with all games Thursday through Saturday, will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and will be available on the WatchESPN app for subscribers.
All games on Wednesday will be broadcast live, for free, via the Sun Belt Digital Network.
South Alabama earned the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 7 UT Arlington on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. CT. Little Rock earned the No. 3 seed, it's highest ever seed for a Sun Belt baseball championship, and will take on No. 6 Georgia Southern in Wednesday's first game scheduled for 9:00 a.m. CT.

Senior Stefan Trosclair helped guide the Ragin’ Cajuns to a share of the 2016 Sun Belt Conference regular season championship hitting .444 (8-for-18) on the week with three doubles, two triples a home run and eight RBI while slugging 1.000 with a .474 on base percentage. Trosclair posted multiple hits and RBI in three of the four games on the week. With a share of the conference championship on the line in game two of the ULM series, Trosclair came up with the walk-off winning RBI double in the 11th to lift the Cajuns to a 6-5 victory. Trosclair then drove in three runs in the series finale to guide the Cajuns to complete the sweep of ULM and claim a share of the regular season crown. The senior also tied a school record with two triples in game two of the series. Trosclair raised his average from .257 to a season-best .273 after the four-game week.

Brown was one strikeout away from tying a career high. He finished the game with eight total strikeouts and didn’t allow an earned run, while picking up his eighth win of the season. Brown only allowed two runs on four hits and walked two. He pitched five perfect innings and struck out the side in one inning. He produced 12 ground ball outs and had four fly outs. He picked up a huge fly out with the bases loaded and the game tied at two in the fifth inning. He pitched 125 pitches and threw 77 strikes.
