Sun Belt Concludes 2016 Spring Meetings

POINT CLEAR, Ala. - Sun Belt Conference administrators and coaches wrapped-up three days of meetings on Tuesday at the Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Ala.

The annual spring meeting included the Faculty Athletics Representative, Athletics Director, Senior Woman Administrator, and head football coach from each of the Sun Belt member institutions. Representatives from Coastal Carolina University, which officially joins the conference on July 1, were present at the meeting, as were representatives from football-only members Idaho and New Mexico State.

Recommendations from these meetings will be reviewed by the Sun Belt Presidents and Chancellors at an upcoming meeting the first week of June. An announcement with more information will take place once that meeting has concluded.

Individuals from the NCAA, ESPN, the College Football Playoff, the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, the Capital One Orange Bowl, the R L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, the GoDaddy.com Bowl, the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, the AutoNation Cure Bowl, and the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl were all in attendance along with Sun Belt corporate sponsors Crystal Clear Imaging, AXS, and AECOM.

The Sun Belt concludes its sports season this week with the conference's baseball championship hosted by Texas State in San Marcos, Texas. The Sun Belt will then be represented in the NCAA postseason in the coming days and weeks by at least one of its baseball programs, individual student-athletes participating in track and field events, and UL Lafayette's Softball Super Regional appearance against Oklahoma.
