INDIANAPOLIS - UL Lafayette and South Alabama each received NCAA regional bids to the 2016 NCAA Baseball tournament as the field of 64 was announced on ESPNU Monday.
The Ragin' Cajuns (41-19) learned Sunday night that they will host an NCAA Regional for the second time in the last three seasons. The Cajuns will be the No. 1 seed in the Lafayette Regional after winning their third consecutive Sun Belt tournament title on Sunday.
No. 2 seed Arizona, No. 3 seed Sam Houston State and No. 4 seed Princeton will join the Ragin' Cajuns this weekend. The Ragin' Cajuns will take on Princeton on Friday at 7 p.m. CT at "Tigue" Moore Field and will be available on ESPN3.
This will be the Ragin' Cajuns fourth consecutive appearance in the tournament and 16th overall appearance.
The Jaguars (40-20) are making their 26th overall appearance to an NCAA Regional and first since 2013. USA will head to the Tallahassee Regional as the No. 3 seed where they will take on No. 2 seed Southern Mississippi. USA will be joined by No. 1 seed and regional host Florida State and No. 4 seed Alabama State.
The Jags and Golden Eagles will meet Friday at 11 a.m. CT with coverage being provided by ESPN3.
