Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Craig Lautenslager, UT Arlington, Senior, Architecture
Craig Lautenslager won the individual title at the Ken Garland Invitational on Saturday. He placed first by eight seconds with a 4-mile time of 19:55.2. The meet included four teams ranked in the top 15 in their respective regional rankings. He helped the Mavericks place second in the six-team field. Lautenslager redshirted the 2015 cross country season and was competing in his first meet since the 2014 NCAA South Central Regional.

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Tristin Van Ord, Appalachian State University, Senior, Community, Regional & Global Development
Tristin Van Ord stormed past the finish line 27 seconds faster than the second-place finisher to take first-place honors at the Mountains to Sea Duals held in Boone. Her 5K-time of 17:55.78 was 20 seconds faster than her third-place effort in her first competition of the season. Van Ord’s performance catapulted the Mountaineers over Miami, UNCW, and Western Carolina in the mega dual meet and it extends Appalachian's lead over Western Carolina in dual meets to 17-3.
