Winning with Defense
The South Alabama Jaguars (8-2-1, 3-0-0 SBC) have won six consecutive matches dating back to Sept. 5. All six matches have been shutouts and five of the six were 1-0 wins. This week the Jaguars take on ULM who is also 3-0 in league play.

ULM Off to Record 3-0 Start
The ULM Warhawks (6-4-1, 3-0-0 SBC) are off to the first 3-0 start in school history in league play and have done so with fantastic defense, having shutout three of their past four opponents. This week the challenge gets a bit tougher as they host USA, the only other undefeated team in league play. ULM is nearing some program bests as the final month of the regular season approaches. Since joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2006, the Warhawks’ best SBC record is a 4-6-1 mark back in the 2007 season. Now in its 18th season of existence, the ULM soccer program has reached the seven-conference win mark twice, in 2001 and 2004.

Scroggins Moves Up Record Books at ULM
Brooke-Lynn Scroggins had three saves in the win over Arkansas State but with the shutout (her fifth solo shutout of the season) she moved into a tie for second in ULM soccer history. Her five shutouts tie her with Rachel Marcom and Mallory George for the second-most by a Warhawk keeper in a season.

UL Lafayette’s Montoya Earns Offensive Nod
Ragin’ Cajuns senior forward Yazmin Montoya was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Cajuns to a 2-0 record last week picking up goals in both wins over Georgia Southern and Troy. Montoya is the all-time points leader for the Ragin’ Cajuns with 64 points in her career.

Georgia State’s Haynes Honored for Defense
Redshirt-junior Brie Haynes earned Defensive Player of the Week honors in back-to-back shutouts last weekend. Haynes was the driving force behind two shutouts this weekend, helping to earn the seventh overall shutout for the team this season. Haynes played all 200 minutes in goal and had eight key saves to keep both opponents out of the net. Her two saves were clutch in the 2-0 shutout of Coastal Carolina, the first conference win for the Panthers. Haynes has 62 saves this season, giving her a .838 save percentage.Haynes ranks fourth in the Sun Belt for saves, and the Panthers are tied for first place for their seven shutouts.
