Community Coffee Player of the Week
Kevin Woodall, Jr. (Coastal Carolina, Junior, 1B)
Had a hit in four of five games … Overall, had six hits – three home runs … Led the team with 8 RBI and 6 runs scored … Had a 3-RBI game and a 4-RBI game … Was 3-for-5 with 4 RBI in the come-from-behind win over George Mason, hitting 2, 2-run home runs … In addition to his 2 HR vs Mason, had a key bunt single in the 9th to load the bases … Tagged from 1st on a sac fly and ultimately forced Mason to intentionally walk a batter to re-load the bases … Woodall then scored the game winner from second on Matt Beaird’s single.
Community Coffee Pitcher of the Week
Cory Malcom (Little Rock, Senior, RHP)
Cory Malcom earned a win with another electric outing on Saturday for the Trojans against Purdue. For the second consecutive week, Malcom tied a career high with 11 strikeouts in seven innings of work and allowed just five hits and a walk. Malcom is the first Trojan pitcher to record back-to-back performances with at least 10 strikeouts since Chance Cleveland in 2012. Malcom now leads the Sun Belt in strikeouts (22) and innings pitched (14.0) while tallying the fourth-best ERA in the league at 0.64.
