Community Coffee Player of the Week

Omar Salinas (UTA, Junior, 1B)
Omar Salinas went 7-for-15 last week with four homers, one double and 11 RBI in four games. He drew two walks without a strikeout and added a sacrifice fly. Overall in four games, he came to the plate 17 times, reaching via a hit or walk nine times. Salinas drove in eight runs in the series win over Troy, belting three homers, including a two-homer game in the finale. Salinas drove in eight of UTA’s 17 runs in the series with Troy. Salinas sports a six-game hitting streak, going 11-for-24 with two doubles, four homers and 12 RBI during the stretch. On the year, Salinas has reached base safely in 24 of his 25 starts, leading the team with 27 RBI. He has hit .302 (29-for-96) with six doubles, five homers and a .521 slugging percentage. With 20 walks to 15 strikeouts, Salinas sports a .438 on-base percentage. In his first eight career Sun Belt games, Salinas has hit .333 (10-for-30) with two doubles, four homers and 14 RBI, drawing six walks without a strikeout. He has come to the plate 38 times in league action and has reached base safely 17 times.

Community Coffee Pitcher of the Week

Alex Cunningham (Coastal Carolina, Senior, RHP)
Alex Cunningham pitched his second straight complete-game shutout, in a 4-0 win over Georgia State on Friday. He becomes just the second Chant to throw back-to-back, complete-game shutouts (Austin Kerr in 2014) and the two join Ricky Shefka (2005) as the only three Chants (on record) with back-to-back complete games. He gave up just five hits and allowed zero walks with 11 strikeouts. For the season, Cunningham is 4-0 with a 1.97 ERA and 58 strikeouts to just 9 walks.
