Jaguars headed to Hattiesburg

INDIANAPOLIS - The South Alabama Jaguars received its second consecutive NCAA regional bid to the 2017 NCAA Baseball tournament as the field of 64 was announced on ESPN2 on Monday.

The Jaguars (39-19) claimed its first Sun Belt baseball tournament title since 2005 and 12th overall title on Sunday with a 7-6, 10-inning victory over tournament host Georgia Southern. The Jaguars earned a bid to the Hattiesburg Regional in Hattiesburg, Miss. hosted by Southern Miss and Pete Taylor Park.

USA will be the No. 3 seed in the Hattiesburg regional and will play Friday, June 2nd at 6 p.m. CT against No. 2 seed Mississippi State (36-24). The host Eagles will take on Illinois-Chicago in the matchup prior at 1 p.m. CT.

The Jaguars will be making their 27th overall appearance to an NCAA Regional.
