MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama sophomores
Loic Cloes (Remicourt, Belgium) and
Clement Marzol (Toulouse, France) have been chosen to compete in the ITA Saint Francis Health System All-American Championships beginning Sept. 30 in Tulsa, Okla.
Cloes is ranked No. 125 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in their preseason poll, and will start in the qualifying round of singles, Oct. 2-3. Last season, Cloes was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team in singles and first team in doubles. He had the team's best singles record at 23-3, primarily coming from courts 4 and 5.
"Loic had a great freshman season," said USA head coach
Nick Brochu. "Winning 23 matches in one semester is quite an accomplishment. He worked really hard last season and deserves to be selected for the qualifiers. I expect Loic to work extra hard the next few weeks."
Marzol will have to play in the pre-qualifying round Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Marzol finished last season as the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year after posting a 23-6 singles record overall.
"Clement was so solid last year for us," Brochu said. "He won so many important matches at No. 3 and has shown that he is one of the best players in the conference. Going through the pre-qualifiers is a tough task but Clement is in great shape and can definitively go through."
The two players will compete as a team in the doubles qualifying round.
