Sun Belt Announces Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week (March 14)

Appalachian State junior Taylor Bygrave had a solid match in the Mountaineers' win over Savannah State, clinching both the doubles point and the match in singles play. At No. 3 doubles with junior Rebecca Morse, Bygrave clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Shakendra Alston and Ekaterina Vorobeva for their first win as a pairing. At the No. 2 in singles, Bygrave defeated Vorobeva in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Her play has sparked Appalachian State on a five-match winning streak.

For the spring season, Bygrave is 7-4 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.

Coastal Carolina junior Iryna Vardanian recorded wins on the No. 2 singles and doubles courts in the Chanticleers' only match of the week against Davidson. Vardanian captured her seventh doubles victory of the season with a 6-4 win with senior Natalie Wall. She won her singles match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, over Megan Scholvinck.

For the spring season, Vardanian is 5-5 in singles and 7-3 in doubles.
