PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The three women’s first-round matches at the 2018 Sun Belt Tennis Championships saw Georgia Southern, ULM and Appalachian State advance to Friday’s quarterfinals.
 
The ninth-seeded Eagles kicked off the day with a 4-2 win over eighth-seeded Louisiana. A couple of 4-1 decisions followed with the seventh-seeded Mountaineers dropping 10th-seeded Texas State and the sixth-seeded Warhawks pulling off a tough triumph over 11th-seeded Arkansas State.
 
Georgia Southern rebounded from losing the doubles point to get singles victories at the No. 1, 2, 4 and 6 spots, while ULM and Appalachian State each won the doubles point and needed three singles wins to secure victories.
 
Next up is a busy Friday at the 2018 championships with eight matches on tap. All eight matches are set for live coverage on RadioTennis.com and live stats on SunBeltSports.org.
 
The women’s four quarterfinals are first on the court with No. 1 Troy vs. No. 9 Georgia Southern and No. 4 South Alabama vs. No. 5 UTA at 7:00 AM CT/8:00 AM ET then No. 3 Coastal Carolina vs. No. 6 ULM and No. 2 Georgia State vs. No. 7 Appalachian State at 10:30 AM CT/11:30 AM ET.
 
The men’s first-round matches follows in the afternoon with the following schedule:
Match 1: No. 8 Coastal Carolina vs. No. 1 Georgia State, 2:00 PM CT/3:00 PM ET
Match 2: No. 5 Georgia Southern vs. No. 4 Troy, 2:00 PM CT/3:00 PM ET
Match 3: No. 7 Appalachian State vs. No. 2 Louisiana, 5:30 PM CT/6:30 PM ET
Match 4: No. 6 UTA vs. No. 3 South Alabama, 5:30 PM CT/6:30 PM ET
