PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The eight men’s tennis hit the courts for the first at the 2018 Sun Belt Tennis Championships provided an afternoon and night of intrigue and top-notch competition at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
 
The first-round matches opened with No. 1 Georgia State making short work of No. 8 Coastal Carolina in a 4-0 win followed by No. 4 Troy and No. 5 Georgia Southern battling in a match that saw the Trojans fight from down 3-0 to steal a 4-3 victory.
 
No. 7 seed Appalachian State pulled off a 4-2 upset of No. 2 Louisiana on the strength of winning four of the five completed singles matches. No. 3 South Alabama and No. 6 UTA squared off in matchup that had to be concluded indoors due to darkness. The Jaguars did not let the change affect clinching the match with four singles wins.
 
On Saturday, both semifinals are set for 2:00 PM CT/3:00 PM ET with Georgia State and Troy in one matchup and South Alabama and Appalachian State in the other. Live coverage is set for ESPN3 and WatchESPN with Matt Stewart and Ken Thomas calling the action. Live stats will be available on SunBeltSports.org.
