***** SCHEDULE UPDATE *****
Inclement weather moved through the Lafayette area late Wednesday night forcing the final game of Wednesday's schedule between Louisiana and Little Rock to be halted in the bottom of the fourth inning. The two teams will resume playon Thursday, May 24 at 8:30 a.m. (CT).

An updated schedule for Thursday's games is below:

8:30 a.m. (CT) - resumption of Game 6 (Little Rock vs. Louisiana)
10:00 a.m. (CT) - Game 7 (UTA vs. Georgia Southern)
1:00 p.m. (CT) - Game 8 (Texas State vs. Loser of Game 6)
4:00 p.m. (CT) - Game 9 (Coastal Carolina vs. South Alabama)
7:30 p.m. (CT) - Game 10 (Troy vs. Winner of Game 6)

Any further updates will be communicated accordingly.

Jaguars Defeat Georgia Southern, 5-3, to Advance in Sun Belt Tournament
LAFAYETTE, La. - Carter Perkins drove in two runs and added two hits for the South Alabama Jaguars as they defeated Georgia Southern, 5-3, on Wednesday morning in game three of the Sun Belt baseball tournament.

Tyler Carr (9-3) earned the win for the Jaguars (31-23) who advance to face the winner of top-seeded Coastal Carolina and No. 8 UTA on Thursday at 4 p.m. (CT). Georgia Southern (29-25) heads to the loser's bracket and will face the loser of the CCU/UTA game on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. (CT).

The Eagles were led by Tyler Martin and Austin Thompson who each when 2-for-4 with an RBI. Georgia Southern outhit the Jaguars 10-6 but left seven on base.

USA had only six hits on the day and left eight on base. GS's Chase Cohen lasted only 4.1 innings, giving up four runs on five hits.

The Eagles jumped out in front early on the Jaguars posting back-to-back-to-back hits to start the game but were only able to push across one run.

USA's bats also came alive early as the Jags pushed across two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. The Eagles scored another run in the top of the second and the Jags bettered that with two more runs to take a 4-2 lead.

The Eagles pulled within one on a Martin RBI scoring Thompson but that was as close as they would get. USA added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth. Zach Greene came on in relief in the ninth to close out the game, earning his fifth save of the year.

Coastal Carolina Hits Three Home Runs in 12-2 Win over UTA
LAFAYETTE, La. - Coastal Carolina scored four runs in the sixth, four in the seventh and three in the eighth to hand UTA a 12-2 loss on Wednesday at the Sun Belt baseball tournament in Lafayette, La.

The game came to an abrupt halt with two outs in the bottom of the eighth as Coastal's Zach Biermann hit a two-run home run to give Coastal a 10-run lead, ending the game by run-rule. Games are stopped when a team is leading by 10 or more after seven innings, excluding Sunday's championship.

The Chanticleers (39-17) will now face fourth-seeded South Alabama on Thursday at 4 p.m. (CT). Earlier on Wednesday, South Alabama defeated Georgia Southern, 5-3.

CCU hit three home runs versus the Mavericks (22-34) as Seth Lancaster hit a solo shot, Keaton Weisz had a two-run homer and Biermann hit a two-run home run.

Kevin Woodall, Jr. was 3-for-4 with three runs scored while Weisz and Matt Beaird each had two hits.

Anthony Veneziano (6-1) took the win for the Chants after going five strong. He allowed five hits and three walks while striking out seven – his second-best total of the season.

UTA got on the scoreboard with two runs in the eighth. Josh Minjarez and Omar Salinas started the frame with singles. After a ground out moved the pair up 90 feet, Zac Cook hit a two-run single to left-center field.

Christian Hollie, Josh Minjarez and Omar Salinas each notched two-hit games for the Mavericks. UTA starter David Moffat (3-6) made his first start since March 6. Moffat worked 4.1 innings, allowing four hits and one run, walking one and striking out three.

Troy Scores Three in the Eighth as they Down Little Rock, 5-1
LAFAYETTE, La. - Troy scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and won its first Sun Belt Tournament game in four years with a 5-1 victory over Texas State on Wednesday at the Sun Belt baseball tournament in Lafayette, La.

The Trojans (39-18) had lost seven straight and nine of their last 10 tournament games prior to the win – it was the first postseason win in the Mark Smartt era.

Texas State (28-27-1) struck for its lone run in the second inning before Troy (39-18) equaled that with a run of its own in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Trojans then took over the lead in the bottom half of the seventh on a Cole Prestegard solo home run to the opposite field.

A three-run eighth broke the game open to secure the win for the Trojans. Joey Denison singled up the middle with one out and two batters and a stolen base later, Rigsby Mosley singled in Denison. Sadler Goodwin then tripled in Mosley and Brody Binder.

Bobcat starter Nicholas Fraze held the Trojans in check for the first six innings of the ball game – allowing just one run on five hits around six strikeouts. Brayden Theriot (1-4) took the loss for the Bobcats as he allowed four runs on four hits.

With the win the Trojans will take on the winner of Wednesday's final game between Louisiana and Little Rock. That game will be played on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (CT).

Louisiana/Little Rock Halted in Bottom of the Fourth
LAFAYETTE, La. - The Louisiana/Little Rock finale on Wednesday was halted in the bottom of the fourth inning with Louisiana leading Little Rock, 8-7, with two outs in the inning.

Inclement weather forced the game to be halted in the bottom of the fourth. The game will resume on Thursday, May 24 at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
