• Sun Belt women's soccer got underway last weekend with all 11 teams seeing action in at least one match. Troy and Arkansas State opened up the season on Thursday, each gaining a win in its matches.
• South Alabama's Abi Mills scored her first career goal in USA's 1-0 win over UAB on Friday. Mills played in just eight games last season.
• USA earned its sixth shutout in its last seven matches dating back to last season.
• Jaguar keeper, Justice Stanford earned her 19th career shutout, and is just one shutout away from tying for first all-time in USA women's soccer history.
• The Jaguars have outshot their opponent 17 times in the last 20 games.
• Texas State's Heather Martin earned her seventh career shutout in Texas State's 1-0 win over UTSA on Sunday.
• Appalachian State's 3-0 shutout of Campbell on Sunday was the Mountaineers' first shutout in a home opening match since 2009.
• Four Sun Belt teams won its season opener: Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, South Alabama and Troy.
• The 2018 Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Championship is set for Oct. 31-Nov. 4 at the Foley Sports and Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Arola Aparicio Gili, Little Rock (Sr., Forward, St. Antoni de Vilamajor, Spain)
Little Rock senior forward Arola Aparicio Gili played a role in all three of the Trojans' goals during the weekend. Gili registered Little Rock's goal in a 1-1 tie at Central Arkansas Friday night. She posted one goal and added an assist in the Trojans' 3-2 2OT loss to Kentucky Sunday.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Riley Ebenroth, Arkansas State (Sr., Defender, O'Fallon, Mo.)
Arkansas State senior defender Riley Ebenroth scored a goal and helped the Red Wolves preserve a tie on the opening weekend. Ebenroth notched her first career goal in a 2-0 victory over UT-Martin on Thursday when the senior curved in a free kick from 25-yards out to give her squad an early 1-0 lead. On Sunday, she played 101 out of a possible 110 minutes as A-State and Omaha battled to a 1-1 draw. Ebenroth was a key component in the Red Wolves' defensive unit that kept the Mavericks from scoring a go-ahead goal in the final minutes of regulation and overtime.
