Georgia State senior defender Lukas Joyner netted two goals in the Panthers’ 3-1 victory over Winthrop. Joyner hit the equalizer in the 50th minute off a cross from senior forward Kwaku Adu-Boahene and scored again in the 58th minute to give the Panthers a two-goal advantage. Defensively, Joyner anchored a Georgia State defense only allowed one goal in two matches. The Panthers rank tied for first in the Sun Belt in goals allowed with four and are second in goals against average at 0.80. Joyner’s play has helped Georgia State secure a three-game winning streak for the sixth-straight season.

Georgia State junior goalkeeper Paul Tyson conceded only one goal on the week and grabbed five saves, earning his first shutout of the year in the 1-0 victory over UNC Asheville. Tyson has yet to allow an opponent to score two or more goals in a single match and ranks first among all Sun Belt keepers in both total saves (16) and save percentage (.800). He also ranks second in the conference in goals against average (0.80) and saves per game (3.20).
