2018-19 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis News and Notes:
AROUND #SUNBELTTEN
• Sun Belt women’s tennis opens the 2018-19 season this weekend with five teams in action in fall tournaments.
• Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern were set to compete this weekend at the College of Charleston but that tournament was canceled due to the impending effects of Hurricane Florence. The Chanticleers now hit the courts for the first time this fall Oct. 5-6 at the UNC Charlotte Tournament. The Eagles return to action Sept. 28-29 at the Virginia Tech Hokie Fall Invitational.
• The Sun Belt had two singles players ranked in the
Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I Women's Preseason National Rankings released on Sept. 11 – South Alabama junior Alexandria Stiteler (78th) and sophomore Yu Fujioka (113rd).
• Stiteler is set to
participate in the 2018 Oracle ITA Masters, set for Sept. 20-23 in Malibu, Calif. Hosted by Pepperdine, the tournament features the returning players of the year from each NCAA Division I conference in 32-player draws for men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed doubles.
• The 2019 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship is set for April 18-21 at Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga.
