• Sun Belt women’s tennis teams has another busy week ahead with 16 matches on the schedule.
• Louisiana (3-0), South Alabama (2-0) and UTA (2-0) remain undefeated through the early portion of the spring schedule.
• Leading the Sun Belt in singles with three wins each are Georgia Southern freshman Elizabeth Goines, Georgia State senior Daniela Ramirez, Louisiana junior Marina Rodriguez Garcia and sophomore Floriane Picaut, South Alabama senior Patricia Martins and Texas State senior Joy Chia Ming Ming and senior Julia Navajo-Melendez.
• Georgia State freshman Eva Chivu and junior Damira Muminovic are 3-0 in doubles, all at the No. 2 position.
• In the final fall
Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I Women’s National Rankings, Chivu (123rd) and UTA sophomore Momoka Horiguchi (124th) were ranked in singles.
• For the first time, Sun Belt women's tennis is set to play a full conference schedule this season to determine the regular-season champion and seeds for the Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship.
• The 2019 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship is set for April 18-21 at Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Alexandria Stiteler, South Alabama (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.)
South Alabama senior Alexandria Stiteler went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and split a pair of doubles matches in the Jaguars' unbeaten start to the spring season. Stiteler dropped just one game in defeating Grambling State' Keren Muswere 6-0, 6-1 and then dropped McNeese's Giovanna Fioretti in three sets 7-5, 1-6, 7-5. Stiteler paired with sophomore Nikola Kohoutova for a 6-1 doubles victory against Grambling.
