• Sun Belt Conference men's soccer moves into the heart of its schedule with the first league matchup of the season anchoring this week's schedule.
 
• Central Arkansas (4-3-1) hosts Appalachian State (6-2-0) in a Sunday matinee on Oct. 5 in the Bears' first conference match as a member of the Sun Belt.
 
• This week's slate features a scheduling oddity – all six Sun Belt squads in action on the same day (Tuesday, Oct. 1) for the first time this season.
 
• For the third-straight week, Coastal Carolina (4-3-1) was among the teams receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I National Poll. The Chanticleers were also among the teams receiving votes in this week's College Soccer News Top 30 National Poll.
 
• Georgia State (4-0-3) continues to be off to one of the best starts in school history. The Panthers are undefeated through their first seven matches for the first time since 1967, tying the program record.
 
• Georgia State junior forward Aris Briggs continues to lead NCAA Division I in goals per game (1.29) and points per game (2.57). Briggs also enters the week ranked tied for second nationally in total goals (9) and tied for fourth in total points (18).
 
• Appalachian State leads the Sun Belt with four shutouts, doubling Coastal Carolina and Georgia State with two shutouts each.
 
• Howard (2-5-1) picked up its second win of the season in a 4-2 victory at VMI on Sept. 27. The match was called with 10:30 remaining due to adverse weather in the area and after nearly an hour delay. Senior midfielder Andres Gomez scored twice in the match to bring his season goal total to four, good for tied for fourth in the Sun Belt.
 
• Georgia State senior defender Kyle Clinton was one of 30 men's soccer student-athletes on the initial list for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award®. The initial list will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Men’s College Cup® in December.

• The 2019 Sun Belt Men's Soccer Championship, hosted by Appalachian State, is set for Nov. 13-17 at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex in Boone, N.C.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Frank Rosenwald, Georgia State (Sr., F, Exeter, England)
Georgia State senior forward Frank Rosenwald tallied a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw with East Tennessee State, helping the Panthers remain unbeaten in their first seven matches. Rosenwald has recorded three goals and seven total points through seven matches, tied for the seventh most in each category in the Sun Belt.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brady Gunter, Appalachian State (Jr., D, Kernersville, N.C.)
Appalachian State junior defender Brady Gunter played an important role in the Mountaineers' fourth shutout this season, playing all 90 minutes in the backline to clinch the 1-0 win over UNC Asheville. Gunter's efforts have helped Appalachian State lead the Sun Belt in goals allowed (6) and goals against average (0.75).
