AROUND #SUNBELTTEN
• Sun Belt Conference men's and women's tennis move into the stretch run of fall tournaments throughout the remainder of October.
 
• All eight men's and all 11 women's teams are competing in Intercollegiate Tennis Association regionals over the next two weeks. Regional singles and doubles champions and finalists qualify for the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships set for Nov. 6-10 at Newport Beach Tennis Club and The Tennis Club at Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach, Calif.

South Alabama seniors Loïc Cloes and Clément Marzol had their runs in the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., end in the Round of 32. In the singles main draw, Cloes fell 6-2, 6-3 to 10th-ranked Sam Riffice of Florida. In the doubles main draw, Cloes and Marzol fell 6-2, 1-6, 11-9 to Princeton's 15th-ranked doubles team of Payton Holden and Ryan Seggerman. Cloes opened the fall ranked 124th in singles and 37th in doubles with Marzol in the preseason Oracle/ITA Division I Men's National Rankings.
 
• ULM named Kirk Fisher as interim women's tennis head coach and Victoria Fisher as volunteer assistant coach on Oct. 16.
 
UTA sophomore Miguel Cabrera and freshman Solano Caffarena won their respective singles brackets at the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational, hosted by Lamar, on Oct. 13.
 
Georgia Southern put up a strong showing at its home Fall Shootout with three singles flight titles on Oct. 13 – sophomore Elizabeth Goines won the Eagles Singles bracket, senior Paula Boixader took the top spot in the True Blue Singles bracket and freshman Nadja Meier claimed the White Singles crown.
 
Coastal Carolina junior Zak Talic won the Flight One singles title at the Charleston Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston, on Sept. 29.
 
Texas State sophomore Josefina Cassara won a singles flight title on Oct. 12, headlining 10 singles wins and two doubles wins, in its home Play Day tournament.
 
Louisiana sophomore Pierce Gilheany took home the consolation singles title at the John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic, hosted by the Ragin' Cajuns, on Sept. 29. He defeated teammate Karlo Kajin 6-3, 6-2. Gilheany entered the tournament as a substitute for LSU's Ruy Teixeria.
 
• The fall schedules for Sun Belt teams run through early November with the dual match portion of the season starting in late January.
 
• The 2020 Sun Belt Tennis Championships return to the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga. The men's championship is April 16-19 and the women's championship is April 23-26.
