Barbosa, St. Germain, Anderson, Thurston Earn Volleyball Weekly Honors

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Carol Barbosa, Little Rock (Sr., MH, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
Little Rock senior middle hitter Carol Barbosa set career-highs in both kills (24) and digs (18) with her double-double in the Trojans' 3-2 win over Georgia State. Barbosa put down three kills in the 10-0 run in the opening set to win 26-24 after trailing 24-16. She averaged an astounding 5.38 kills, 2.88 digs and 5.7 points per set and added three blocks as Little Rock swept the weekend and extended its Sun Belt winning streak to three in a row.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madelyn St. Germain, UTA (RJr., L, League City, Texas)
UTA redshirt junior libero Madelyn St. Germain helped lead the Mavericks to a 2-0 weekend with wins over Louisiana and ULM. In the 3-2 comeback win at Louisiana, St. Germain finished with a match-high 37 digs, the most digs in a five-set match in the conference this season. She also recorded her 1,000th career dig in the victory over the Ragin' Cajuns. In the sweep at ULM, St. Germain finished with 23 digs. Over the two matches, she also contributed eight assists, one kill and one service ace.
 
SETTER OF THE WEEK
Amara Anderson, Troy (So., S, Alpharetta, Ga.)
Troy sophomore setter Amara Anderson had an incredible weekend in the Trojans' wins over Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina. Anderson recorded a season-high 55 assists against the Chanticleers to improve her career total to 2,234, which ranks seventh on the school's all-time career assists list. She contributed three kills and two service aces against Appalachian State, posting 43 assists and 11 digs for her team-high 11th double-double of the season.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Janae Thurston, Little Rock (Fr., OH, Peculiar, Mo.)
Little Rock freshman outside hitter Janae Thurston hit an impressive team-leading .414 while averaging 3.88 kills per set as the Trojans rolled to a weekend sweep. Thurston tallied two kills in the 10-0 run to win the opening set against Georgia 26-24 after trailing 24-16. She registered a career-best .429 hitting percentage and 5.0 kills per set while adding five digs in the 3-0 win over Georgia Southern. Thurston averaged a notable 4.6 points per set over the two-match week as a true freshman, helping Little Rock extend its winning streak to three straight.
