UTA Wins, Texas State Falls in Volleyball Postseason Openers

– Arguably the toughest first-round matchup in the NCAA Tournament saw Texas State (24-9, 14-2 Sun Belt) season end as they dropped a 3-1 decision to UC Santa Barbara (23-5, 12-4 Big West) Thursday night at Gregory Gymnasium. The Bobcats turned in their seventh consecutive winning season and made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since 2004-05.

UTA overcame a tough loss in the first set to pick up a 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 25-16, 21-25, 15-13) come from behind win over UTSA in the first round of the 2019 National Invitational Volleyball Championship at the College Park Center on Thursday night. With the win, the Mavs improve to 19-13 on the season and advance to the second round of the NIVC to face Sam Houston State on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. The win also moves UTA to .500 (8-8) at home this season.
