Arkansas State's Cockfield Earns Second Men's Basketball Player of Week Award

Ty Cockfield II, Arkansas State (Sr., G, Gainesville, Ga.)

Arkansas State senior guard Ty Cockfield II averaged 33.0 points on 20-of-35 shooting (.571), including going 6-of-12 (.500) from three-point range, in a pair of games for the Red Wolves. Cockfield poured in a career-high 39 points against league-leading Texas State while adding 27 points in a win over UTA. He was 20-of-21 (.952) at the free throw line, none bigger than seven free throws made in the final minute in the win over UTA. His 39-point outing was the sixth-highest, single-game scoring output in program history and moved him past 1,000 career points. Cockfield is just the fifth player in program history to score 1,000 points in only two seasons played.
