COMMUNITY COFFEE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kyle Skeels, Coastal Carolina (Jr., C, Langehorn, Pa.)
Moving into the starting catcher's spot, Skeels excelled this weekend as the redshirt junior hit a team-high .500 (5-for-10) with two doubles, four RBIs, four walks and one hit by pitch. He also scored three runs and posted a .700 slugging percentage over the Chanticleers 3-0 weekend. Hitting safely in all three games, Skeels went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored versus VCU and 1-for-2 with a double, three walks and an RBI in the win over Maryland. In the Sunday contest versus Campbell, Skeels went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, three RBIs and a run scored. He was 3-for-6 with runners on base and a perfect 1-for-1 with with the bases loaded. He also threw out the lone base runner that tried to steal a base against him.
COMMUNITY COFFEE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Connor Reich, Texas State (Sr., RHP, Hallsville, Texas)
Connor Reich had a dominate performance on the mound in his first start of 2019. In the final game of the Texas State Tournament, the Hallsville, Texas native threw 6.2 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win over 24th-ranked Missouri State in a 10-0 Bobcat victory. He allowed just one hit and did not walk a batter. Reich retired the first 15 batters he faced before surrendering his lone hit of the game. It was his 10th career victory at Texas State. His 6.2 innings of work were the second most by any Sun Belt pitcher during the opening weekend of the season. The right-handed senior hurler also was perfect on all three fielding chances with two assists and one putout.
