AROUND #SUNBELTTEN
• Sun Belt women’s tennis has 15 matches on the schedule this week.
 
• Eight teams enter the week having won their last match, headlined by South Alabama sitting at 9-0. Sparking the Jaguars' streak has been the singles play of senior Patricia Martins (8-0), sophomore Nikola Kohoutova (7-0) and junior Diana Monsalve (5-0).
 
• South Alabama's men's and women's teams have combined to win 15-straight matches and have not lost in the month of February. The men's team has won six in a row after dropping its first two matches of the spring.
 
• UTA (8-1) continues its hot spring, coming into the week having won three straight. The Mavericks' sophomore doubles duo of Momoka Horiguchi and Carla Pons are 8-0 at the No. 2 spot and senior Carla Vives and freshman Liz Chileno are 3-0 at the No. 3 spot.
 
• The Troy tandem of freshman Chunxi Guo and sophomore Pei Hu Hsieh is also undefeated at No. 2 doubles with a 5-0 record.
 
• In the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I Women’s National Rankings released on Feb. 20, Georgia State freshman Eva Chivu moved into the singles rankings at No. 102.
 
• For the first time, Sun Belt women's tennis is set to play a full conference schedule this season to determine the regular-season champion and seeds for the Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship.
 
• The 2019 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship is set for April 18-21 at Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga.
 
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ana Perez, Texas State (Sr., Quito, Ecuador)
Texas State senior Ana Perez won three matches, two at No. 1 singles and one at No. 1 doubles with senior Julia Navajo-Melendez, and was ahead 6-5 in her other doubles match before it was suspended after the Bobcats captured the doubles point. Perez defeated McNeese's Giovanna Fioretti 7-6, 6-4 and Stephen F. Austin's Gabi Guilarte 6-2, 6-2 and McNeese's Carlotta Romito and Charoline Erlandsson 6-4. This spring, the Quito, Ecuador, native boasts a 6-1 singles record, all decided in straight sets with one victory over a ranked opponent, and a 2-3 doubles record both at the No. 1 spots.
