Seven Women's Basketball Teams Accept Bids to Postseason

NEW ORLEANS - A record seven Sun Belt Conference women's basketball teams will continue their seasons after accepting bids to the NCAA, WNIT and WBI tournaments.

NCAA Bracket
Little Rock, the Sun Belt regular season and tournament champions, will be representing the league in the NCAA Tournament. The Trojans (21-10) will be the No. 12 seed in the tournament and will tipoff against No. 5 seed Gonzaga on Saturday, March 23, at 2:30 p.m. CT in Corvallis, Ore. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.

Little Rock is 2-5 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, last defeating Texas A&M in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

WNIT Bracket
On Monday evening, three teams accepted bids to the WNIT. UT Arlington (23-7), which claimed a share of the Sun Belt regular season title, earned the league’s automatic bid to the WNIT. The Lady Mavericks, who fell to South Alabama in the Sun Belt tournament semifinals, will host Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, March 21. The Jaguars (24-10) were the runner-up in the Sun Belt tournament and will travel to Lamar for a Friday, March 22, tipoff. This will be USA's fourth trip to the WNIT in program history.

The Troy Trojans (22-8) will be the Sun Belt's third representative in the WNIT. The Trojans will host UAB on Thursday, March 21, and it will mark the first time in program history the Trojans will host a postseason tournament game.

Game times for the WNIT games will be announced on Tuesday.

WBI Bracket
The Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) also selected three teams from the Sun Belt. Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina and Georgia State each accepted bids to the invitational.

The Mountaineers (18-14) will tipoff on Wednesday, March 20, against UNC Asheville at 5 p.m. CT. App State is in a postseason tournament for the first time since earning a spot in the 2013 WNIT and ninth postseason appearance in school history.

The Chanticleers (17-14) will host Campbell on Thursday, March 21, at 5 p.m. CT and the Panthers (17-13) will travel to North Alabama on Thursday, March 21 for a 6 p.m. CT tipoff. This is GSU's first postseason appearance since the 2002-03 season.
