Louisiana's Cantrelle Hits for Cycle in Win over Northwestern State

– Sophomore Hayden Cantrelle's hot bat continued to make noise as he became the fourth player in program history to hit for the cycle in Louisiana's 8-3 victory over Northwestern State on Tuesday evening.

Cantrelle is the first Ragin' Cajun to accomplish the feat since Stefan Trosclair did so on May 1, 2016 at UTA. Kyle Clement (Jackson State – April 11, 2015) and Tommy Bates (TCU – Feb. 10, 1990) are the only other members of the program to hit for the cycle.

— Brandon Boone started a shutout of North Carolina Central for the second straight year, and he had plenty of help Tuesday.

Boone, Cam Roberts, Evan Mauldin, Austin Primm and Kaleb Bowman combined on a three-hitter in a 13-0 home victory for Appalachian State, which scored three runs apiece in the second, third, fifth and eighth innings.

- Georgia Southern Baseball took its third-straight win on Tuesday night with a 6-2 win over The Citadel. The Eagles scored runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to improve to 10-9 on the year, rising above .500 for the first time this season. Georgia Southern closes a six game road swing on Wednesday night at Charleston Southern. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
