• This week's schedule for Sun Belt women’s tennis include 13 matches, highlighted by another packed weekend slate of conference contests.
• ULM (8-1, 3-0 Sun Belt) continues to be the Sun Belt's hottest team, entering the week on an eight-match winning streak.
• Appalachian State (10-4, 4-0) is on its longest winning streak in conference play since joining the Sun Belt and joins ULM as the only two undefeated teams in league matches.
• Georgia State (6-9, 2-2) is enjoying good fortunes as of late as well, entering the week on a three-match winning streak. Junior Damira Muminovic has won her last five singles matches.
• South Alabama (14-2, 3-1) has a pair of sophomores entering the week on winning streaks in singles – Yu Fujioka has won her last nine matches and Milka Pasanen has won her last eight in a row.
• Troy (8-7, 2-2) had its top doubles duo of freshman Chunxi Guo and sophomore Pei Ju Hsieh suffer its first loss of the season – a 6-0 setback at No. 1 to the Coastal Carolina tandem of graduate student Jennifer Brown and sophomore Jessie Mount.
• The 2019 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship is set for April 18-21 at Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Teodora Sevo, Appalachian State (So., Futog, Serbia)
Appalachian State sophomore Teodora Sevo had her most impressive week going 2-0 in both singles and doubles play, contributing to the Mountaineers' hot start to league action. In the win over then-13-1 South Alabama, Sevo was the first to finish in both singles and doubles – 6-1 over Alexandria Stiteler and Yu Fujioka at No. 2 doubles and 6-0, 6-4 over Stiteler at No. 1 singles. Against Troy, she won a drag-it-out singles match, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) over Matea Mihaljevic at the No. 1 spot, to give Appalachian State a 3-1 lead. She teamed with classmate Sandra Anglesjö to tie up doubles with a 6-2 win over Mihaljevic and Tingting Pea at No. 2 after the Trojans opened the match with a doubles win. Sevo won back-to-back singles matches for the first time this season. She paces the Mountaineers with a team-best 8-2 record in doubles.
