AROUND #SUNBELTTEN
• Sun Belt women’s tennis closes out the regular season with 12 matches on the schedule.
• The battle for the regular-season title and top seed for the 2019 Sun Belt Women's Tennis Championship comes down to the wire as South Alabama (18-3, 7-1 Sun Belt) and Appalachian State (13-5, 7-1) enter the week tied atop the standings. Both teams have two conference matchups upcoming this weekend. The Mountaineers own the tiebreaker by virtue of their March 22 win over the Jaguars.
• Coastal Carolina (13-7, 6-2) and UTA (14-7, 5-2) are jockeying for top seeds as well, each also with two conference contests remaining. The Chanticleers and Mavericks clash in the regular-season finale on Sunday, April 14.
• ULM (9-4, 4-3) and Troy (10-8, 4-3) sit two matches ahead of Georgia Southern (11-11, 3-5) and Georgia State (7-12, 3-5) in the loss column. A weekend sweep by any one of these four will shake up the seeding for the bottom half of the championship bracket.
• Texas State (6-11, 2-6) and Louisiana (6-12, 1-6) each need to finish strong combined with Georgia Southern or Georgia State stumbling to have a chance to slide into the eight-team field.
• South Alabama sophomore Milka Pasanen and classmate Nikola Kohoutova each enter the week on 10-match winning streaks in singles. Pasanen leads the Sun Belt with the best singles record (11-1) and Kohoutova leads in singles wins with 17.
• Georgia Southern freshman Luisa Hrda continues her winning ways in singles, having won 11 in a row. On her streak, Hrda has won six matches at the No. 5 spot and five matches at the No. 6 spot.
• Appalachian State senior duo of Jeannez Daniel and Rebecca Morse is the only doubles team undefeated (5-0) in conference play.
• The 2019 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship is for April 18-20 at Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga. The championship is set for live coverage on
RadioTennis.com for the first-round matches and ESPN+ for the semifinal and championship matches.
