ORLANDO, Fla. – After a month off, UTA senior Guanarteme Nuez is set to get back on the court, competing in the singles bracket at the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships on at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 20 at the USTA National Campus.

Nuez, the No. 94 ranked player in the country, will take on the tournament's No. 7 Seed Aleksandar Kovacevic, out of the University of Illinois. Kovacevic is currently ranked No. 10 in the ITA National Polls. Kovacevic is 19-3 in dual play with a 17-3 record on court one.

Nuez enters the 64-man single elimination competition with a 13-7 record this spring, while going 13-3 on court one. The two-time First Team All-Conference selection and 2018 Sun Belt Player of the Year, picked up his second nod for the NCAA Singles Championship and will look to build upon his outing a year ago.

Last year, Nuez found himself against the No. 7 seed Borna Gojo from Wake Forest, losing 6-3, 6-4 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

On top of being selected First Team All-Sun Belt this season, Nuez has already competed against a handful of participants in this season's NCAA Singles Championship.

The NCAA Individual Championships run May 20-25 with winners of best-of-three set matches playing one match per day.
