CONWAY, S.C. - No. 10 ULM used a six-run sixth inning and a three-run eighth-inning to pull away form No. 7 South Alabama, 12-7, in the first game of the 2019 Sun Belt Baseball Championship at Coastal Carolina.
ULM's Joey Jordan went 5-for-6 in the contest, tying a tournament record with the five hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Andrew Beesley was 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the first three innings and Braedon Barrett added three hits for the Warhawks and drove in two runs.
Miles Dunn (4-0) earned the win for the Warhawks. Chase Lambert (2-2) earned the loss for the Jaguars who closed out their season with 30 wins and 26 losses.
Dakota Dailey and Michael Sandle recorded three hits for USA.
The win for ULM was its first tournament win since 2014 and advances the Warhawks to the double-elimination round. The Warhawks will face top-seeded Texas State on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
