Troy Walks-off Little Rock to Advance to Semifinals

CONWAY, S.C. - Drew Frederic hit a walk-off double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, as sixth-seeded Troy beat third-seeded Little Rock, 5-4, in the first of two elimination games at the Sun Belt Baseball Championship at Springs Brooks Stadium.

Troy's Manning Early scored the game-tying run and Rigsby Mosley scored the game-winning run. Early singled to right and advanced to third on Mosley's single up the middle. With runners on the corners, Frederic stepped up to the play and doubled down the left field line to score Early.

Little Rock's Troy Alexander had trouble fielding the ball in left, allowing Mosley to come around from first to score the winner.

Lance Johnson (4-1) got the win for the Trojans (31-28), pitching the final two and two-thirds. Johnson entered the game with one out and the bases loaded in the seventh inning. He was able to get Little Rock's James Gann to hit into a fielder's choice and then struck out Ramon Padilla to end the Little Rock threat. He finished with three strikeouts of the eight batters he faced, allowing just two hits and no runs.

Donavin Buck (6-5) took the loss for Little Rock.

Mosley was Troy's offensive leader on the day with four hits in five at-bats, including two extra base hits. He led off the bottom of the first with a home run and had a double in the sixth to go along with three runs scored. Frederic was 3-for-5 on the day with two extra base hits (double, home run). He also drove in three RBIs on the day.

Little Rock got three hits from Ryan Benavidez and two hits, including a home run, from Nick Perez. Troy Alexander and James Gann had back-to-back home runs in the top half of the sixth inning.
