Texas State's Davis Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Texas State women's soccer senior, Kaylee Davis, was selected to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List, presented by World Wide Technology, the United Soccer Coaches and Missouri Athletic Club announced on Thursday. Davis was the Sun Belt Conference's Player and Offensive Player of the Year and All-Sun Belt First Team selection in 2018.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Davis was one of 61 players to be named to the Women's Watch List and is the first Sun Belt women's soccer student-athlete to be named to the Women’s Watch List since 2011.

The Allen, Texas, native enjoyed a breakout season as a junior in 2018. Davis played and started in all 20 matches for the Bobcats last season and tied a Texas State record with 18 goals, which led the Sun Belt and tied for third in the NCAA. She finished 2018 with 86 shots attempted, the second most in school history and set a new Bobcat season record with seven match-winning goals. She totaled 37 points, the second most ever by a Bobcat, and played 1,579 minutes on the pitch.

A four-time Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, Davis enters her senior season with 29 goals and 62 points in 55 career matches played.

The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List was compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees. A total of 15 semifinalists will be named for the MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches. From those candidates, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.
