Sun Belt Announces Staff Promotions

NEW ORLEANS – Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill announced today the recent promotions of Spencer Dodd and Kyle Wilborn to Assistant Commissioner roles within the league office's championships staff.
 
Dodd has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner, Championships and Corporate Sales and Wilborn has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner, Championships and Marketing. In their roles, Dodd and Wilborn are responsible for assisting with the championship administration and operations of Sun Belt championship events and working with the coaches, officials, and campus administration on regular-season operations for all conference-sponsored sports.
 
“Spencer and Kyle have been key members of our Sun Belt staff for a number of years and their promotions recognize their great work and dedication to create quality championship experiences for our student-athletes, coaches, officials and administrators," said Commissioner Gill.
 
Dodd is in his sixth year at the Sun Belt office, joining the staff as an intern in the Championships department in 2014. He was promoted to a full-time position in April 2015. Since that time, he has held Coordinator, Assistant Director and Director titles in the Championships department.
 
A 2014 graduate of Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Wash., Dodd was a four-year baseball student-athlete from 2010-14. During that time, the Eagle, Idaho, native was a member of the NCAA Division II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, including a stint as chair. He received a Master of Education degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington in May 2015.
 
Wilborn is in his fifth year at the Sun Belt office, joining the staff as Assistant Director of Championships and Marketing in August 2015. He was elevated to Director of Championships and Marketing in January 2017.
 
Wilborn was a four-year starter on the football team at Troy University under former head coach Larry Blakeney. He served as a team captain during his junior and senior seasons and was selected to the All-Sun Belt first team and Raycom College Football All-Star Game as a senior. He was an active member of the Trojans' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, serving as President in 2012-13.
 
The Newnan, Ga., native earned two degrees from Troy – Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 2013 and Master of Science in Sports Administration in 2015.
