Football Recaps and Scores November 14

South Alabama 10, No. 25 Louisiana 38
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Levi Lewis passed for 252 yards and three touchdowns, Louisiana gained 254 yards on the ground and the No. 25 Ragin’ Cajuns clinched a third straight Sun Belt Conference West Division title with a 38-10 victory over South Alabama on Saturday.

Lewis tossed TD passes of 5 yards to Jalen Williams and 3 yards to Errol Rogers. He also hit running back Trey Ragas for a 25-yard score on a fourth-down conversion, with Ragas narrowly staying inside the left sideline to put the game away in the fourth quarter.

Chris Smith and Elijah Mitchell each had touchdowns rushing for Louisiana-Lafayette (7-1, 5-1 Sun Belt), which has won four straight since its only loss on a last-second field goal to No. 15 Coastal Carolina

Georgia State 13, (RV) App State 17
BOONE, N.C. — Jacob Huesman finished off a fourth-quarter touchdown drive in relief of injured starting quarterback Zac Thomas to give App State its first lead, and the Mountaineers remained unbeaten in Sun Belt Conference play with a 17-13 victory against Georgia State on Saturday.

App State (6-1, 4-0) lost Thomas to an injury midway through the fourth quarter, and Huesman was on the field for the final six plays of a march that covered 11 plays and 77 yards.

He completed a 12-yard pass to Camerun Peoples on his first play and added a 14-yard completion to Thomas Hennigan on a third-and-8 throw to the Georgia State 22. Peoples' 10-yard touchdown run with 4:55 left, followed by Chandler Staton's extra point, produced the Mountaineers' first lead of the game at 17-13.

After Peoples' touchdown, Nick Hampton and Demetrius Taylor teamed up for a sack that helped produce a punt by Georgia State (3-4, 2-4), and the Mountaineers ran the final 3:32 off the clock.

Texas State 38, Georgia Southern 40
STATESBORO – Shai Werts ran for 120 yards and three touchdowns, the Eagle defense picked off three passes in the first half and Alex Raynor kicked four field goals as Georgia Southern topped Texas State 40-38 in Sun Belt Conference football action Saturday afternoon in Paulson Stadium.

Texas State quarterback Brady McBride connected with Jah'Marae Sheread for a 24-yard touchdown pass to trim Georgia Southern's lead to 40-38 with 2:50 remaining, but the Eagle rushing attack converted two third downs on their ensuing possession to run out the clock and preserve the win.

With the Eagles facing 3rd-and-4 on their own 20-yard line with 2:12 to play, Werts faked the handoff to Logan Wright up the middle and pitched to Matt LaRoche, who took it around the left side for a 27 yards and a first down. GS faced a 3rd-and-2 on the Texas State 45-yard line with 1:23 remaining, and this time, Werts faked the pitch and kept it for a 5-yard gain and another first down.
