Brady McBride, Texas State
He started at quarterback for the first time in three weeks and completed 32-of-45 passes for 443 yards and five touchdowns to zero interceptions with a quarterback rating of 190.5. He threw five touchdown passes to tie a school record and ties him for fourth place on Sun Belt Conference all-time single-game list...His 443 yards passing is the school’s second-highest single-game total...His 32 completions were a career-high figure for the Coppell, Texas native and the fourth-most by a TXST player in a single game.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
C.J. Brewer, Coastal Carolina
Redshirt senior defensive tackle C.J. Brewer had a career day in the win over Appalachian State last Saturday as he led the Chants to their first-ever win over the Mountaineers. Brewer totaled a career-high 14 tackles, which is also a team-high this season, and 3.0 tackles-for-loss which matched his team-high of 3.0 tackles-for-loss in the win over Kansas in the season opener on Sept. 12. He also added 1.5 sacks in the win with his solo sack coming on a third down on the Mountaineers' last drive of the game. The Coastal defense helped the Chants overcome a 17-9 halftime deficit by holding the Mountaineers to just two field goals over the second half of play. The Chants are now 8-0 on the season, the best start by a team in Sun Belt history, and the Chants' best start since moving to FBS in 2017.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chandler Staton, App State
Chandler Staton tied his career high with three made field goals, connecting from 44, 36 and 45 yards, in the Mountaineers’ 34-23 loss to Coastal Carolina. In a tight back-and-forth contest, two of his three field goals gave App State the lead at 10-9 in the second quarter and then at 23-21 in the fourth.
