NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced the Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll as voted on by the league's 12 head coaches. Troy topped the list with 140 points and nine first place votes.
Last season, Troy claimed the program's first outright Sun Belt regular season title after posting a school record 25 wins including 16 in league play. For the eighth consecutive season, the Trojans led the league in scoring, averaging 80.2 points per game. Troy also led the league in rebounding, pulling down a Sun Belt record 55.0 boards per game. Trojans Head Coach Chanda Rigby has amassed 146 wins since taking over the program in 2012-13, 93 of those coming in league play. She ranks second among active Sun Belt women's basketball head coaches in that category.

This season, the 12 Sun Belt schools will be split into an East Division and a West Division to minimize travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams will play each other on back to back days (Fridays and Saturdays) at the same location. Opening games are set for New Year's Day 2021.
All 12 teams will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championship which will be held March 5-8, 2021 in Pensacola, FL.
