PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Avery Grimes, UTA (Sr., 2B, Keller, Texas)
UTA senior second base Avery Grimes came up with big hits over the opening weekend as the Mavericks won the Aggie Classic in College Station, Texas. Grimes was the biggest catalyst in UTA's Feb. 8 win over Texas A&M, going 3-for-4 and driving in four runs in the 5-4 come-from-behind victory over the host Aggies. She plated the first Maverick run with an RBI single in the fourth inning and then tied the game in the sixth with a two-RBI double to left center. Grimes gave UTA the lead in the top of the eighth with an RBI double and her third hit of the game. In the bottom of the eighth, she ended the game turning an unassisted double play. Grimes also had a hit in each of the first two games against Texas A&M and scored a run in the first game against Abilene Christian. For the weekend, she went 5-for-14 (.357) at the plate with two doubles and four RBI.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Allie Gardiner, UTA (So., P, Yorba Linda, Calif.)
UTA sophomore pitcher Allie Gardiner did not allow a run and picked up three wins in 20.0 innings in the circle as the Mavericks took the title at the Aggie Classic. In the 7-2 win over Texas A&M on Feb. 7, Gardiner took the ball in the fourth inning and took it the distance, striking out four and giving up just one hit to earn her first win of the season. In the 5-4 extra-inning win over the Aggies, she pitched the final 4.0 innings and only allowed one hit while striking out three. In the 2-0 shutout of Abilene Christian on Feb. 9, Gardiner threw her first career complete-game shutout, striking out a career-high 13 batters and allowing five hits, in the tournament title clincher for UTA.
