Troy Sweeps Northern Kentucky; App Records Program's 1,200th Win

App State Baseball Records Program's 1,200th Win in 10-1 Triumph at Gardner-Webb
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – A four-run fourth inning and a dominant debut from junior Quinton Martinez powered App State baseball to its first win of the 2020 season. The 10-1 victory over Gardner-Webb on Sunday also marked the 1,200th victory in program history.

After jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning, the Mountaineers pushed four runs across in the fourth to take a commanding 5-0 lead. App State (1-2) then tacked on five more runs in the eighth to extend its lead to 10-1.

Late Comeback Propels Bobcats to Series Victory over Seawolves
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Down by two, the Texas State baseball team (3-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh on its way to a 4-3 come from behind win over Stony Brook (1-3) Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Ballpark.

Earning the win was freshman Tony Robie (1-0). The right-hander threw two innings of relief although he did give up three runs. Brent Hebert worked the final two innings and struck out two to earn his first save of the season. Taking the loss was the Seawolves' Brandon Lashley after giving up three runs on four hits in two frames.

Merejo Homers Again as Panthers Rally for 9-7 Win to Improve to 3-0
ATLANTA -- Elian Merejo hit his second home run of the opening weekend and Josh Smith drove in the go-ahead runs with an eighth-inning double as Georgia State rallied for a 9-7 win over Saint Peter's Sunday at the GSU Baseball Complex to improve to 3-0 under first-year head coach Brad Stromdahl.

The Panthers swept the Atlanta Challenge with victories over 2019 NCAA regional team Cincinnati, St. John's and Saint Peter's.

@AStateBaseball Claims Series With 8-4 Sunday Win Over SFA
JONESBORO, Ark. (2/16/20) – A pair of home runs along with a quality start by Chandler Coates lifted the Arkansas State baseball team to an 8-4 series-clinching win against Stephen F. Austin Sunday afternoon at Tomlinson Stadium/Kell Field.

Coates worked 7.0 shutout innings in his first start of the season for A-State (2-1), scattering five hits and walking one to go along with five strikeouts to earn the win. Three Red Wolves registered multi-hit days, led by Ben Klutts, who went 3-for-4 on the day with two runs scored.

ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington baseball team rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to win the third game of the weekend series against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 3-1. With the win, the Mavericks swept the Islanders and completed their first season-opening series sweep since 2013 when they swept Louisiana Tech.

Sullivan Impresses as Troy Sweeps Northern Kentucky
Troy, Ala. – Freshman William Sullivan went 5-5 and blasted four doubles as the Trojan offense exploded for 11 extra-base hits in a 20-11 win over Northern Kentucky in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field. Troy bats drove in 67 runs, the most through the first four games in school history, during an opening weekend series sweep of the Norse.

DJ Wilkinson earned the start for Troy (4-0), but it was Marquez Oates that notched the win for the Trojans on the mound, striking out four batters in 2.1 innings. Lance Johnson entered the game in a tough spot in the top of the second but pitched three solid innings and was able to get the Trojans back on track after a shaky start.
