WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DJ Williams (Senior, Guard, Moreno Valley, Calif.)
Coastal Carolina's DJ Williams led the Chanticleers to a 2-0 record for the week recording a new career-high and school record for most points (51) in a single game and then following that with the program's third triple-double. The Moreno Valley, Calif. native averaged 36.5 points per game for the two games. In a battle for the top two teams, Williams recorded 51 points in the 124-103 win over Troy. Against the Trojans, Williams was 16-of-31 from the field and 4-of-9 from behind the arc along with 15-of-18 from the free-throw line. To go along with her 51 points, Williams added 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals in 39 minutes of action with zero turnovers. Against South Alabama, Williams recorded 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists to become just the third person in Coastal Carolina history to record a triple-double, the first of the senior guard's career. Williams was 7-of-17 from the field and 8-of-11 from the charity stripe.
Williams' 51 points were the highest in the NCAA this year in either men's or women's games. She was named ESPNW's national player of the week and helped lead the Chants to a program-best 21 wins.
