BOONE, N.C. – South Alabama shot nearly 70 percent from the field Thursday, and combined with a five-minute stretch in the second half in which the Jaguars did not give up a point that performance resulted in a 78-70 Sun Belt Conference win over Appalachian State at the Holmes Center.
Coastal Carolina 90, Troy 60
CONWAY, S.C. – Tommy Burton and DeVante' Jones each scored 16 points as Coastal Carolina pulled away in the second half for a 90-60 win over Troy in a Sun Belt Conference game Thursday night at the HTC Center. The Chanticleers finished with all five starters in double figures and improved their record to 14-14 overall and 7-10 in the league. Meanwhile, Troy dropped to 9-19 overall and 5-12 in the conference, with its fourth consecutive loss.
Texas State 70, Georgia Southern 55
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State won its fifth consecutive home game by defeating Georgia Southern 70-55 thanks to another dominant first half Thursday night at Strahan Arena. The Bobcats are now 13-3 at home this season. With the win, the Bobcats (18-10, 11-6 Sun Belt Conference) are now 3-2 all-time when playing the Eagles (16-12, 10-7) in San Marcos despite trailing the all-time series overall 8-4. In addition to that, the Bobcats are now tied for second place in the Sun Belt standings with Georgia State who fell at UT Arlington 70-62 on Thursday night.

ARLINGTON, Texas – For the second time in as many games, UTA (13-15, 9-8 Sun Belt Conference) took down a top-2 team in the league standings as the Mavericks won their third in a row overall with a thrilling, come-from-behind 70-62 statement win over Georgia State (18-10, 11-6) Thursday night inside the College Park Center.
