OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Lizzie Mayfield, Louisiana
Scored a pair of goals and added a pair of assists in helping Louisiana to its first 2-0-0 start since 2012. Mayfield scored the game-winner against Abilene Christian as her three points (goal, assist) equaled the most by a Ragin’ Cajun in a season-opener since Courtney Hofland’s three points at Houston in 2006. The junior scored the equalizer against South Alabama in the 89th minute before assisting freshman Alyssa Abbott's game-winner in the 107th minute to give the Ragin' Cajuns just their second win in the series dating back to 2010.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordan Higgins, Louisiana
Helped Louisiana off to its first 2-0-0 start since 2012 after posting a 0.46 goals against average with 11 saves during the opening weekend. In Louisiana's 2-0 win over Abilene Christian, the junior became the first goalkeeper to post a shutout in her Ragin’ Cajuns debut since Alexias Stricklin stopped seven shots in a 1-0 win over Sam Houston State in 2014. The junior posted seven saves, including an early stop on a penalty kick in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory against defending Sun Belt champion South Alabama on Sunday.
