NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Lainey Gosnell, App State
(#30, Sr, F - Demorest, Ga.)
Lainey Gosnell played a pivotal role in App State’s weekend sweep of Georgia Southern securing the team’s second winning season (13-11) in the past three years and matching their best record in Sun Belt play (10-8) since joining the league. The senior had a weekend to remember, averaging 20+ points in back-to-back games for the first time in her career and fell just one rebound shy of averaging a double-double for the weekend. Gosnell led the Mountaineers in minutes played, scoring, rebounding, 3-pointers, 3-point field goal percentage, and free throw percentage. She scored game highs in both contests while her 18 points and game-best 10 rebounds on Friday gave her a team and personal-high sixth double-double of the season. Gosnell followed that up with a season-high 23 points on Senior Day playing 39 of 40 minutes with a team-high nine rebounds. She shot at least 60 percent from the field, 70 percent from 3-point range and 85 percent from the line and is now third all-time in App State history with 165 3-pointers.
