Little Rock Rallies Past Coastal

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Little Rock erased a 14-point first half deficit to defeat Coastal Carolina, 75-64, in the First Round of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championships at Pensacola Bay Center March 5. 
Coastal Carolina led throughout the first half, carrying a 47-35 lead into halftime. However, Little Rock opened the second half on a 14-2 run to take the lead on a 3-pointer by Tia Harvey, 49-48, midway through the third quarter. The Chanticleers and Trojans battled through four lead changes over the next seven minutes before Teal Battle scored on a second-chance layup to put Little Rock in front, 60-59, with 6:46 to play. It sparked a 10-run by the Trojans, who went on to out pace CCU, 17-5 in the final seven minutes.
CCU played the final 1:27 with four players after a third Chanticleer fouled out of the game. 
Ky'lie Scott and Mayra Caicedo each had three 3-pointers and scored 13 and 12 points, respectively. Caicedo dished out a tournament-high nine assists, accounting for half of Little Rock's team total. Angelique Francis had a double-double 11 points and 12 rebounds. 
Deaja Richardson and Olivia Smith each scored 18 points to lead CCU. Aja Blount added 14 points. Janae Camp's nine rebounds led the team, while Richardson and Blount collected eight rebounds each. 
Little Rock (14-10), the third seed from the West, will meet No. 2 from the East, Georgia State, in the SBC quarterfinals on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pensacola State College's Hartsell Arena. Coastal Carolina closes its season with a 3-15 record.
