Domangue, Prinsloo, Millenaar, Meyers Claim Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Awards

NEW ORLEANS – UTA’s Justin Domangue and South Alabama’s Francois Prinsloo earned Men’s Track and Field recognition for their career-best performances in the 3000m steeplechase and discus throw. Jaguars’ Carolien Millenaar and Louisiana’s Claire Meyers also claimed Sun Belt Weekly accolades. Millenaar ran a career-best in the steeple chase while Meyers set a school record and claimed first-place honors in the javelin.

Justin Domangue, UTA

Domangue posted the 2nd-best 3000m steeplechase time in the nation on Thursday at the Texas Relays, establishing a PR with a mark of 8:53.73. That time is also the 3rd-best in program history. Domangue cut nearly four seconds off his previous best time. He posted a 2nd-place finish in the event (top D-I finisher), just more than three seconds behind the winner, but an incredible 15 seconds better than the 3rd-place finisher.

Francois Prinsloo, South Alabama

Redshirt Freshman Francois Prinsloo claimed the top spot in the discus throw after recording a striking 55.71m mark at the Texas Relays last weekend. The Worcester, South Africa native has now earned three titles in the discus throw this season. Prinsloo was one of only three student-athletes to record a win at the Texas Relays in school history. 
 
Outdoor Track & Field: Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Carolien Millenaar, South Alabama

Senior Millenaar ran a career-best time of 10:26.13 in the 3000m Steeplechase at the Texas Relays last weekend for a first-place finish. Her time is the fastest in school history, and the win was her first career victory in the 3000m Steeplechase since joining the Jaguar program in 2017. Millenaar was one of the three student-athletes in program history to bring home a win at the Texas Relays.
 
Outdoor Track & Field: Women's Field Athlete of the Week 
Claire Meyers, Louisiana

Meyers set a school record and claimed first-place honors in the women's javelin at the 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. She claimed the individual title in the B section of the women's javelin after she threw 163 feet, 9 inches on her second attempt eclipsed the Ragin' Cajuns school record of 160-1 set by Dorsey Steamer in 1993. The senior was joined in the top-5 of the event by freshman Maria Bienvenu, who finished fifth overall after her mark of 151-2 was the fourth-best throw in school history. Meyers' throw marked the best in the Sun Belt Conference in 2021, was 11th in the NCAA East Region, and 23rd nationally.
